The Importance of Open Source Governance for Enablement and Innovation

In this presentation Tim Yeaton, President and CEO of Black Duck Software, will discuss the importance of governance, which relies on code scanning and auditing in combination with process automation, to enable innovation with open source software for industrial products.

As open source evolves and becomes a critical component of industrial products such as automobiles and airplanes, growth in the number and variety of projects able to support innovation has accelerated. Having the ability to know what’s in a product’s code base through code audits, and managing that code with governance policies and procedures, becomes a core capability for developers innovating with open source.

Recent advances in automotive and aerospace industries will be examined to illustrate how community-led FOSS innovation is taking hold in industrial applications.
