Helping Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla take full advantage of PaaS

The project(s) that I would like to present are the partnerships between Microsoft and a number of large OSS communities to enable 3  top tier CMS applications (WordPress, Drupal and Joomla) to take full advantage of PaaS platform architecture.  This includes a review of the architectural principles involved in the undertaking to ensure that these apps would be able to take advantage of the reliability and scalability features of a PaaS platform, as well as the tool sets and process to enable success on these fronts.  I will discuss the primary difference in considerations between the IaaS model and PaaS for large scale, multi-tenanted applications and showcase a the collaboration model between commercial/proprietary software companies  and Open Source communities that was used.  Finally, I will showcase a few customer case studies where the migration to PaaS has been streamlined as a result of this work and discuss what it means for the future.
