Franz Meyer joined Red Hat in 2001. Based in the Paris office, he is responsible for managing and developing Red Hat’s business opportunities in Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa. He leads the strategic planning for the region including the identification of new areas and markets for investment and development. During the last 8 years he has achieved sizeable growth for Red Hat in the region and established the company as a real alternative to major IT vendors such as BEA, Sun and Microsoft. He has also been responsible for educating and evangelising the benefits of the open source software model across his territories. Franz has over 20 years experience in the European IT market. After completing his degree at the French engineering school ENSAM, Franz Meyer started his career in software with Sage in 1988. More recently he worked for BMC Software as Sales Director for France. He has also worked as Sales Manager with SDRC (Structural Dynamic Research Corp), where he developed the Product Data Management unit.
