The French association ADULLACT (Association des Développeurs et Utilisateurs de Logiciels Libres pour les Administrations et les Collectivités Territoriales) was created in 2002 in France to «design, develop and promote a common heritage of open business applications». It is the first venture of this kind (according to Gartner, who quoted Adullact in July 2005). The principal mission of the French association AFUL (Association Francophone des Utilisateurs de Linux et des Logiciels Libres) is to promote - directly or indirectly - open applications, and notably free operating systems like GNU-Linux, as well as the adoption of open standards. The goal of the SYSTEM@TIC PARIS-REGION cluster is to give the Ile-de-France visibility at global level for its work in designing, building and administering complex systems. Of the 340 players involved, 80 are large enterprises, and 80% of the affiliated small-to-medium companies and industries are directly involved in the cluster’s projects. Subscribers also include 140 research laboratories, and 15 regional authorities. The cluster has set up its own internal think-tank dedicated to the theme of openness, with the aim of coordinating Open Software players and their projects in the Ile-de-France. This so-called ‘Groupe Thématique Ouverture’ works on R&D subjects that are specific to Open Software, contributes to the structuring and development of open applications, and plays a supportive role in administering the rising tide of innovation currently taking place in the open software arena. official website
