PHP Industrialization
There was a time where PHP had to find small cracks in the door to get into the enterprise. Being small, efficient, to the point, it found its way making people's life easier. Thanks to its sheer pragmatism and the adoption of a number of easy-to-use and ready-made software, it has seduced users and even whole departments.
Going from comfort applications to mission critical platform was the obvious next step. PHP is now reinventing itself and producing the tools that assists larger teams : rock solid frameworks, in-production monitoring and management tools as well as standard software methodologies. We are witnessing an incredible metamorphosis where yesterday's geeky developers are now putting on sleeves and trousers.
Although PHP is challenging the established order, it still brings at its core its Open Source nature. Too often, proprietary vendors have established monoculture. Indeed, PHP is bringing more than just technology and cost reduction : it also comes with a lively community, habits of collaboration and even a unique culture.Damien Seguy
