Carlo Daffara is the Italian member of the European Working Group on libre software, and chairs other working groups like the Open Source Middleware Group of the IEEE technical committee on scalable computing and the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Working Group of the EU Competitiveness Task Force. His current research activity is centred on the sustainability of OSS-based business models. He is currently the head of Research and Development (R&D) at Conecta Research Ltd, an open source consulting company.
