Bernhard Krieger is a social scientist and consultant in the field of science and technology research. He studied social anthropology in Munich (M.A.) and Cambridge (M.Phil. and Ph.D. –  Title: „The Production of Free Software: an ethnographic enquiry into a new social practice“). In the last ten years he was employed by Maastricht University, Cambridge University and Ludwig-Maximilians University (Munich) as a researcher and assistant professor. He undertook the ethnographic fieldwork for the EU Commission funded project FLOSSPOLS, a project to examine the low share of women in free software development. Next to his continuous interest in social issues of free software, his current research activities include wider aspects of heterogeneity and identity politics in computing-enhanced environments as well as open innovation beyond software and new methods in social science research. Currently he works as an independent consultant in Munich, Berlin and London.
