Our node focuses on introducing FOSS into the curricula of Higher Education Institutions (Universities etc)in the country through Syllabus making, Teacher Training, Textbook writing,Lab setting up,Student project mentoring, etc. We also offer FOSS Competency Training and Certification services for the general public. Details of our work can be seen at: http://nrcfoss.au-kbc.org.in/ By training and profession,I am a Communication and Signal Processing Engineer and have been a part of Anna University Chennai since 1977, where I set up and manage a research centre called the AU-KBC Research Centre (http://www.au-kbc.org/). Along with C-DAC Chennai,I was also responsible for the founding of the NRCFOSS Project in 2005 with government funding. In addition to promoting FOSS in Higher Education, I am keenly interested in creating a FOSS Ecosystem in the country by interlinking the efforts of the government, academia, industry and community in this domain. For FOSS to contribute significantly to the economy and society, it would need to work with in such an ecosystem. My participation in OWF is motivated by a desire to comprehend how this dynamics operates in other countries as well as across the world, as well as to contribute to the same, hopefully.
