Vincent Picavet is the cofounder of Oslandia, a young company specialized in OpenSource Geographical Information Systems. After having graduated as an engineer in applied mathematics, he works at INRIA on satellite imagery. He then joins a small Free-Software-oriented company, where he focuses in GIS, designing and implementing OpenSource spatial architectures, of which the spatial database PostgreSQL/PostGIS is the main base component. He is a PostGIS contributor, and gives training sessions at the university.
He gives birth to Oslandia in 2009, in order to offer services to clients who need to deal with spatial information. Oslandia provides OpenSource solutions for handling, storing, analyzing, mapping, visualizing large amounts of geodata. Vincent is involved in OpenSource and OpenData communities (OSGeo, OpenStreetMap, Systematic GTLL, April), and is a strong advocate of FLOSS and Open data. Vincent gives talks in national and international conferences, on technical and global subjects related to GIS and OpenSource (PGDay.eu, SIGLL, Solutions Linux, FOSS4G…)
